The Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP) is a component of the engine management system as used in many modern internal combustion engines. The MAP sensor creates a variable electrical output signal based on intake manifold vacuum. The Power Train Control module (PCM) uses the MAP sensor signal as an input to compute engine load and to optimize PCM outputs for fuel control, ignition and emissions.
