PHILADELPHIA (August 8, 2011) — The Pep Boys — Manny, Moe & Jack,announced today that it is participating in the Motorist Assurance Program’s (MAP) Brake Safety Awareness Week, August 20–28, by offering free brake system inspections for the entire month of August at Pep Boys locations across the nation.
Throughout the month, Pep Boys will also have informational brake safety brochures and do-it-yourself guides available to download at www.pepboys.com for consumers without a Pep Boys close by.
Pep Boys recommends drivers regularly inspect their brake systems, including all brake linings, hardware and hydraulics, or have them inspected by trained technicians where available.
The Automotive Maintenance and Repair Association (AMRA) in conjunction with the Pep Boys, recommends assessing the brake system for the following maintenance indicators, each of which could signify possible problems:
