Tire Class

How in the world can I tell which tire I should roll with?

Easy. The way you use your vehicle determines which class of tire you will need. For example if the bulk of your driving is related to commuting, an All Season tire is all you need.

Consider how and where you drive your vehicle and select your tire options from the Pep Boy’s categories below:

All-Season tires are suitable for year-round driving in all weather conditions.
  • Ultra High Performance and High Performance All-Season
While you’ll get all-season versatility for your sports coupe or sedan, be willing to trade some mileage for improved dry and wet traction and cornering ability.
  • Performance All-Season
For an affordable price, you’ll get all-season versatility with balanced performance and traction.
  • Grand Touring and Standard Touring All-Season
Experience all-season versatility, responsive handling and enhanced tread wear – plus a smoother ride with less road noise.
  • Passenger All-Season
Enjoy all-season versatility with dependable, affordable tires that provide good wear and a smooth ride.

Summer-Only & Max Performance
Summer-Only & Max Performance tires are specifically designed for high-performance driving. Tire compound, tread design and speed ratings all combine to deliver better road- holding and power transfer. Be aware that the compound and tread design of Summer tires make them less than ideal for winter road conditions.

Extreme Performance Summer
While you’ll get extreme dry-street performance, be willing to trade some comfort and noise reduction.
  • Max Performance Summer
Expect a superior combination of responsive handling and excellent dry and wet traction.
  • Ultra High Performance Summer
Experience an excellent blend of dry and wet street traction and precise handling.
  • High Performance Summer
Perfect for your sports coupe or sedan, high-performance summer tires deliver a great blend of dry and wet street performance.
  • Grand Touring Summer
You’ll get a good blend of both dry and wet street performance, responsive handling, ride comfort and less road noise.
Winter-Use tires have been developed with compounds and tread patterns specially created for better grip on snow or icy road surfaces. They are not suitable for year-round use since the rubber compound used wears more quickly on dry, summer roads. Winter-Use tires should always be sold in sets of four.
  • Performance Winter
Be willing to trade some traction on snow and ice for enhanced dry-road handling. A good choice in regions where snow doesn’t last remain on the road.
  • Studless Ice and Snow
Maximum traction on snow and ice without the inconvenience of installing studs.
  • Studded Winter
Enhanced traction on icy surfaces. A good choice for regions where snow compacts, freezes and remains on the road surface. Check for local restrictions.
