Plus Sizing Your Tires

Upgrading Your Vehicle’s “Look” and Tire Performance

Plus 0, Plus 1, and Plus 2 tire sizing guide.

The main reason for plus sizing your cars wheels and tires is to increase the tire surface that remains in contact with the road. This increases the handling and performance of your car as well as adds a fashion statement to your vehicle.

What is plus sizing? In the case of Plus 1 and Plus 2, the wheel is increased by one inch per size and the overall height of the tire and rim remains the same. This is accomplished by lowering the sidewall width and increasing the tire tread width to maintain the over height of the tire.

Our plus sizing formula offers the following results:

  • Lowering the tire's profile
  • Increasing the tire's footprint
  • Increasing the wheel diameter
  • Increasing the wheel width
  • Maintaining overall tire diameter
  • Maintaining O.E load carrying capacity
  • Better handling
  • Better cornering agility

Let the experts at Pep Boys help you find the right setup for you. In the end, your car will handle better, feel tighter, and as a bonus, look better!
