Rated 4 out of 5 by Nick Good tire but mileage overrated
I like this tire in that it is quieter than most and has good traction in poor weather conditions. I have them on a Honda Odyssey van which I mostly drive for longer trips and not much around town. My concern is that they were rated for 90,000 miles, I expected about 70,00 but got only 55,000. My dealer said that they were worn wrong but I have a 4 wheel alignment every 6 months. So I only got about 65% wear of what they were rated for. Maybe it is because the van is a large vehicle...

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lainie Very Satisfied Customer
I purchased the Michelin Defender tires back in August 2013 and am extremely satisfied with them. Will soon be due for a new set and plan on purchasing them again. The ride is very comfortable and quiet. I live in Pennsylvania where we had a large blizzard last winter. I had no problems getting around.

These tires are terrible. They are supposed to last 90,000 miles. 39,000 miles later, and they are unable to pass inspection. I thought I was buying the best tires available from the best brand, but I should have bought the cheapies for almost half the price. I drive mostly highway miles, so I see no reason why they these shouldn't have lasted at least 50-60k miles, based on the manufacturer's rating of 90K

Rated 1 out of 5 by Ron Less than 40K miles, and their ready to be replaced.
I bought these because of the 90,000 mile rating. I previously had Michelin tires rated at 80,000 miles and got over 70,000, so I wanted to buy them again, but they were discontinued. So I bought these Defender tires. I took them to my dealer for rotation every 5,000 miles faithfully. But this time the dealer told me that they're close to worn out and I should replace them in 3,000 to 5,000 miles. I only have about 36,000 miles on the tires, so I'm VERY unhappy. These are expensive tires, and even though Michelin will pro-rate my next tires, I have to pay again for road hazard, etc.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Michael 2 times dissatisfied!!
Purchased this tire for the 90k rating. From my local dealer. This defender tire has only lasted 48k for me. No balance issues and regular rotations. Dealer checked the tires and they need replacing they are at 3/32. Primacy 60k tire didn't last either 36k with those.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Speedy1965 Noisy
This tire corners well and delivered 4 additional mpg all around for my 2010 Chevy Impala. However, they had to be replaced after a week with a different brand because they had a loud roar as if I had knobby mud tires on a 4x4. I am very disappointed more testing wasn't done during development. Impala owners beware!

I've used Michelin for years and I will continue to buy them but not the Defender. The tires are noisy and ride extremely rough. I haven't decided if I going back to the dealer to see if they will replace them. They are really good people so I may get lucky.
