Speed Rating
Load Index
Load Range

Safety Rating is a combination of two values: Load Index and Speed Rating for P-Metric and Euro Metric tire sizes; and Load Range and Speed Rating in the case of heavy duty LT (light truck) sizes.

Speed Rating is based on the speed that the tire is designed to be driven at for extended periods of time. All tires in the in the U.S. are designed to maintain legal U.S. speed limits. The speed rating of tires must match the maximum driving speed of the vehicle.

Load Index is used on P metric and Euro Metric sized tires and denotes a tire's load-carrying capacity at a specified inflation pressure. The load index is represented by a number, the higher the Load Index Value the greater the load the tire can safely carry. Vehicle manufacturers recommend a maximum load capacity based on a recommended minimum load index.

Tire Class

Tire Class reflects how the tire will be used. There are four major categories: All-Season, Max Performance, Summer-Only and Winter-Use.

All-Season tires are suitable for year-round driving in all weather conditions.

Summer-Only & Max Performance tires are specifically designed for high-performance driving. Tire compound, tread design and speed ratings all combine to hug the road and maintain grip. Summer tires by nature are not ideal for winter driving due to lack of siding to grip winter roads.

Winter-Use tires have tread compounds and patterns that are specially designed for grip on snowy or icy road surfaces. They are not suitable for year-round use. The rubber compound used will wear more quickly on dry, summer roads. It is recommended that winter tires are fitted as a complete set to avoid potential handling issues.

Tread Type

Tread Type is an important consideration when choosing a tire. There are four main types: Passenger, Highway, All-Terrain and Mud-Terrain.

Passenger denotes a tread that is suitable for normal use, a good all-round tread for normal driving.

Highway is a tread type unique to SUV and truck tires. The tread is optimized for normal everyday driving on paved surfaces. These tires can be driven off pavement, but are not ideally suited for off road traction. Highway tread patterns deliver a quiet ride.

For light trucks and specialty vehicles, All-Terrain tread types provide better off-road traction than standard highway truck tires. There more aggressive tread tends to be less quiet on paved roads. All Terrain tires are suitable for everyday use.

Mud-Terrain treads are specifically designed with wider tread blocks and higher void ratios to gain traction in off-road conditions. Mud Terrain tires can generate higher noise levels and tend to carry lower mileage warranties than other tread designs.

UTQG - Uniform Tire Quality Grade

UTQG (Uniform Tire Quality Grade) is made up of three values: treadwear, traction and temperature.

Treadwear is a relative numeric score, based on manufacturer tests, showing how well a tire can be expected to wear compared to other tires. A higher score means a tire could be expected to wear better.

Traction measures the tire's ability to stop a vehicle on wet roads. It doesn't reflect a tire's acceleration, cornering, or hydroplaning performance. Traction grades range from AA (highest) to C (lowest).

Temperature grades the tire's ability to withstand heat build-up, with A being the highest grade and C the lowest.

A - Over 115 mph
B - Between 100 to 115 mph
C - Between 85 to 100 mph
Treadwear: 0
Traction Asphalt - gForce
AA - Above 0.54
A - Above 0.47
B - Above 0.38
C - Less Than 0.38
A - Over 115 mph
B - Between 100 and 115 mph
C - Between 85 and 100 mph

Drive / Ride Performance Characteristics

All tires have the following six performance characteristics, divided into three sets of trade-offs. In most cases, a tire may perform excellently in one characteristic but only standard in the other.
Standard Ride Comfort & Standard Handling
Handling: Get stiff side wall for precise steering and cornering but settle for a firm ride with increased road noise.
Ride Comfort: Enjoy a quiet, smooth ride but lose some cornering ability.
Standard Treadwear & Excellent Traction
Traction: Stop faster in wet conditions but expect a shorter tread life.
Treadwear: Get long, uniform wear across your tread pattern but expect less traction in wet conditions.
Standard Low Rolling Resistance & Standard High Speed Performance
High-Speed Performance: Get increased performance at higher speeds but sacrifice some fuel economy.
Low Rolling Resistance: Enjoy improved fuel efficiency but expect less high-speed cornering ability.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Not a good off road/snow tire Bought these for my son's 6in lifted 98 chevy. Did not want spend alot of money on tires since it is an older truck. They did not perform well in 4" of mud on a dirt road. In the snow they slip as well. You pay for what you get. If you do little to no snow/off road driving and want to save money perfect tire for you. No hum going down the highway. Seem to ware fine. Won't puchase these again for any of my trucks. Spend a little more another AT tire that performs as should. November 23, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by just doesnt last These tire do not last, I have 10000 miles on them and have to replace them. Only rotated twice and tires are junk.I recommend, Do not buy them. November 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Tires, Just Get 'Em Have not had snow yet to comment on winter handling but on dry and wet they are pretty great. My Nissan Frontier finally feels like it’s stuck to the road (bought the truck used and the tires were shot). Smooth running and quiet, nicely responsive. I have no doubt they will be fantastic in the snow as well. In fact, I can't wait! As for longevity, we'll see. October 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Fast shipment Great tires October 5, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Tire For Jeep Wrangler JKU This is a great tire at a great price. Looks great, super quiet all the time, performs well in rain too! July 29, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Good tread, aggressive look. So far has performed in snow and on ice. Cant wait to get it off-road in the nicer weather! January 23, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by good winter tire good in deep snow. excellent on snow covered roads. my drive to work takes me from 1600' in elevation to 800' within a couple of miles. very hilly and curvy. i have no problems in snow storms. January 10, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by great for low price these tires have a decent tread design considering the lower cost I live at 9200 ft and we get a lot snow I am depending on these to keep me on the road and help others who were not so lucky get back up on the road. December 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent choice Purchased these tires back in early November for hunting season and the snows that were coming. Was really happy that I did. We had some pretty heavy snow fall in December that I watched other drivers having trouble navigating the roads. I felt extremely comfortable and safe with the tires as they felt like they had claws gripping the road in those conditions. Out in the field when hunting, I don't lose any traction when 4x4 is engaged and climbing a steep grade, even with mud in my path. Even on wet surfaces, I don't have any traction loss. Will definately purchase these tires again when comes time to replace. *something to remember, if the rebate applies, be sure to get the installation package AND road hazard for all 4 tires, otherwise your rebate will be denied* December 19, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by So far so good!! My appointment was on time! The tires look great on my 2011 Dodge Durango!! Will send more info later.. 200 miles isn't enough to tell. December 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very pleaseed with this tire I read a lot of the reviews on this tire before I bought it and there were a lot of mixed feelings. Some said the tires were loud and some said quiet others said rough ride, others said smooth. I want to add to the plus side these tires are not only quiet and smooth but grip the road as well and they LOOK GOOD on my truck. Looking forward to the snow this winter!! December 12, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by I am very pleased The price and overall performance are exceptional. Good looking tire and very quiet on the road. Did not alter the MPG as soom offroad tires can. December 10, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Happy Very Happy with my purchase. Got a great rebate so price was right and tires look terrific on my truck November 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by They're ok. It would have been nice to have the white lettering on the tires. November 4, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not good for Grand Cherokee I put these on a '05 WK with the 5.7L. Not a good match. Rode VERY rough, took a ton of weights to balance and loud at all speeds. Not necessarily a bad tire, but don't buy this you want a tire that does the majority of it duty on road. Pep Boys was great and Prorated me out of them at a very good price, so I'm happy with Pep Boys and would be happy with the tire if I wanted a dedicated AT tire. October 21, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice Tires! Good price and a good product. September 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great warranty! Good looks! These tires are a little beefier than some of the other models. Works great for us living in the country. Smooth ride and no road noise. August 21, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by like tires Satisfied with price and service June 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great looking tires. Tires look great on my Jeep and I really like the feel of them so far. The have also reduced noise level significantly over the tires I replaced. May 20, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very pleased These tires have proven to be very well made and definitely help with reducing noise. The previous owner of my truck had basic highway tires on there before and these new all terrains are much more quiet. May 15, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Beware of 7/32nd's tread and below I thought these tires were great until they reached 7/32". Why ? Because there is a platform at the outer edge that rises up to allow snow, water, mud etc. to escape, this platform is at exactly 7/32" height so now that mine are worn to that level they are a 'completely blocked tire' as the service person pointed out to me on a day there was snow when I was having them rotated. Look very closely at these and you will see it is a semi-open shoulder, not completely open because of this platform on the edge. So great tire from 13/32" to 8/32", after that they're only good if you never drive in snow, mud or deep water. April 26, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Average tire at a low price I've had these tires for about 3 weeks now. The aggressive tread does produce some road noise and the ride isn't as smooth as I'd hoped. Wet weather performance is great, but they do poorly in mud and sand. Major buying points are price and the 50K treadlife warranty. April 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great all around tire Some all terrain features with a nice ride. April 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great tires These tires are a big improvement from the ones I had before on my Jeep. Great traction and very low road noise. These tires are more for the highway and dirt roads than they are for mudding. April 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent tire I purchased these tires for my Toyota Tundra. I tow a 32 foot travel trailer. So I went with a 10 ply tire for safety reasons for towing. I like the tread pattern. Rides good. It has a very very little road noise at low speeds but it would not hinder me from buying another set. Definitely recommend this tire to anyone. Good choice. March 23, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great all around I have 400 miles on these tires and i have been through very heavy rain, 11 inches of fresh snow and light off road usage, through all of that the tires never lost grip and had very little to no road noise. My only Con, which is to be expected with a A/T tire is at highway speeds (70-75) the sidewall give is a little more then I like. Overall as of right now I would buy this tire again. March 16, 2013
