SERVICE DESCRIPTION

Safety Rating is a combination of two values: Load Index and Speed Rating for P-Metric and Euro Metric tire sizes; and Load Range and Speed Rating in the case of heavy duty LT (light truck) sizes.

Speed Rating is based on the speed that the tire is designed to be driven at for extended periods of time. All tires in the in the U.S. are designed to maintain legal U.S. speed limits. The speed rating of tires must match the maximum driving speed of the vehicle.

Load Index is used on P metric and Euro Metric sized tires and denotes a tire's load-carrying capacity at a specified inflation pressure. The load index is represented by a number, the higher the Load Index Value the greater the load the tire can safely carry. Vehicle manufacturers recommend a maximum load capacity based on a recommended minimum load index.

TIRE CLASS

Tire Class reflects how the tire will be used. There are four major categories: All-Season, Max Performance, Summer-Only and Winter-Use.

All-Season tires are suitable for year-round driving in all weather conditions.

Summer-Only & Max Performance tires are specifically designed for high-performance driving. Tire compound, tread design and speed ratings all combine to hug the road and maintain grip. Summer tires by nature are not ideal for winter driving due to lack of siding to grip winter roads.

Winter-Use tires have tread compounds and patterns that are specially designed for grip on snowy or icy road surfaces. They are not suitable for year-round use. The rubber compound used will wear more quickly on dry, summer roads. It is recommended that winter tires are fitted as a complete set to avoid potential handling issues.

TREAD TYPE

Tread Type is an important consideration when choosing a tire. There are four main types: Passenger, Highway, All-Terrain and Mud-Terrain.

Passenger denotes a tread that is suitable for normal use, a good all-round tread for normal driving.

Highway is a tread type unique to SUV and truck tires. The tread is optimized for normal everyday driving on paved surfaces. These tires can be driven off pavement, but are not ideally suited for off road traction. Highway tread patterns deliver a quiet ride.

For light trucks and specialty vehicles, All-Terrain tread types provide better off-road traction than standard highway truck tires. There more aggressive tread tends to be less quiet on paved roads. All Terrain tires are suitable for everyday use.

Mud-Terrain treads are specifically designed with wider tread blocks and higher void ratios to gain traction in off-road conditions. Mud Terrain tires can generate higher noise levels and tend to carry lower mileage warranties than other tread designs.

UTQG - Uniform Tire Quality Grade

UTQG (Uniform Tire Quality Grade) is made up of three values: treadwear, traction and temperature.

Treadwear is a relative numeric score, based on manufacturer tests, showing how well a tire can be expected to wear compared to other tires. A higher score means a tire could be expected to wear better.

Traction measures the tire's ability to stop a vehicle on wet roads. It doesn't reflect a tire's acceleration, cornering, or hydroplaning performance. Traction grades range from AA (highest) to C (lowest).

Temperature grades the tire's ability to withstand heat build-up, with A being the highest grade and C the lowest.

A - Over 115 mph
B - Between 100 to 115 mph
C - Between 85 to 100 mph
Treadwear: 680
Traction Asphalt - gForce
AA - Above 0.54
A - Above 0.47

C - Less Than 0.38

Drive / Ride Performance Characteristics

All tires have the following six performance characteristics, divided into three sets of trade-offs. In most cases, a tire may perform excellently in one characteristic but only standard in the other.
Standard Ride Comfort & Standard Handling
Handling: Get stiff side wall for precise steering and cornering but settle for a firm ride with increased road noise.
Ride Comfort: Enjoy a quiet, smooth ride but lose some cornering ability.
Standard Treadwear & Standard Traction
Traction: Stop faster in wet conditions but expect a shorter tread life.
Treadwear: Get long, uniform wear across your tread pattern but expect less traction in wet conditions.
Standard Low Rolling Resistance & Standard High Speed Performance
High-Speed Performance: Get increased performance at higher speeds but sacrifice some fuel economy.
Low Rolling Resistance: Enjoy improved fuel efficiency but expect less high-speed cornering ability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by How quiet it is. This is the first set of BF Goodrich tires I have ever owned so far. The ride is great with low road noise on my 2011 Camry. I am very pleased. October 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This tire has been great This tire has reduced the amount of road noise while driving in town and on the interstate. I have been very pleased thus far and will likely purchase this brand again. June 28, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by MILEAGE DISAPPOINTED BY ONLY GETTING 26K ON TIRES WARRANTED FOR 60K May 27, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Bumpy Ride Just purchased the 225/50/17 for my 2010 Accord and its like bouncing on a trampoline. Will see if this is how they react ongoing. At this point as of day one, very unhappy. May 9, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Dry rot in between the treads After the terrible chicago area Winter I looked at my BFGoodrich Premium Touring tires to see all 4 of them purchased in September 2010 (now problem was discovered in March 2014--not noticed due to weather extremes this Winter) with 25 K miles on them to find them having some severe cracking from Dry Rot between the treads around the perimeter of all 4 tires. I am now seeking some sort of adjustment due to this premature kind of tire self destruction. I have data and info to take to the BFG dealer and see what happens. The real BAD news is I just put 4 brand new BFG tires of the same classifications on one of my other cars in early December 2013. My third car also has BFG--same classification and I have 2 other cars in need of tires in the next 6 months. We have 5 cars in our family and always trusted BFG tires before. I am hoping for some kind of adjustment on the cracked and dry rotted Premium Touring 215-65-16's. Wish me luck !!! If there is not an adjustment--then there will not be any more BFG's on any of my cars in the future. April 24, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Giving them 1 more chance After 6,200 mile my Advantage TA 225 55 R17 tire on my Chevy Impala had excessive sidewall cracking (only on the car 7 months, but 29 month old tires according to the DOT #'s), original retailer wouldn't stand behind them, called BF Goodrich direct, they gave me the name of a second retailer that replaced my tires with "new" Advantage TA. After 1000 miles this set of tires looks to be fine, I don't think you could find a tire with a better ride, if they hold up. April 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Superior Tire and Performance This was an excellent choice. By far the quietest ride and comfort for the price. BF Goodrich keep up the work in deigning superior tires. Glad I purchased these quality tires. April 18, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Bald at 40K Miles I got these tires for my Toyota Camry. They drive pretty well. However, after 40K miles, they are just about bald. I am disappointed that they didn't last longer. I rotated them frequently, but they just didn't last. April 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Value Tire Upon purchasing a set of 4 BF Goodrich tires, I wasn't sure if I made the right decision since I had always purchaced another premium brand. For the price, they are excellent tires. Very quiet, smooth and sturdy. That is important to a consumer, knowing there is still value at an affordable price. April 3, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by First imprssion So, these are my first Goodrich tires. I was shopping for Radial T/As actually, but my retailer doesn't stock those. The Advantage T/As are not as good looking as the white letter tires in 70 series, I think, but so far seem to handle very well. My MN12 platform Thunderbird feels a lot sharper with these on than any tire I've had so far, and that includes higher-priced competitors; a little twitchy even, but, maybe I just need to get used to the new handling characteristics. January 29, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by BF Goodrich Advantage T/A 215/60r17 95h Spectactular handling for the price. Base mustang comes w Traction T/A's and I got over 60,000 on those. These were $96 less and seem to handle just as well. This car is better than my Expedition in snow for a rear wheel drive car. Just as smooth at highway speeds. Expect to get another 60K! January 13, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor Wear Does the tire drive good? Yes, but the wear is less than desired and much much less than the advertised rating. I don't even have 15,000 on them and I need to replace them. December 29, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by OK For Mild Winters Good Ride, OK winter traction, could be better. Not very good in snow over 3-4". Good wet weather traction. Ride a little rough for the first few miles in very cold temps, most likely caused by harder tire compounds to get higher mileage. December 22, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good tire for the price! Had them on for 500 miles, much better than the Michelin OEM than was on the car at a lot less. Quiet, comfortable ride. Did an good job in 4" of snow for an all-season. I would buy again. December 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Quiet Ride Bought the tires based on the dealers recommendation of a guiet ride. Only have 700 miles on the tire but they are smooth riding and have totally eliminated the noise of those that were replaced. November 24, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not what I expected ....Rough ride I have had these tires since Oct 11. I have had them balanced 3 times and they still ride rough. I would like to trade up to Michelins. Is that possible since they are the same company? November 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Tires great price Tires are great over all in Rain Snow Ect. They have brought a very comfortable ride to the vehicle while improving road noise and or gas mileage . November 5, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by ADVANTAGE, IT SAYS IT ALL! WE PURCHASED A USED RAV ANDAFTER 8 MONTHS IT WAS TIME TO REPLACE TIRES. THE BRAND THAT WAS ON THE RAV, I NEVER HEARD OF BEFORE. THE TOYOTA RAV WAS A 2006 LIMITED AWD WITH A V-6 ENGINE. AFTER ALOT OF RESEARCH WE PURCHASED ADVANTAGE TA TIRES. THERE WAS A SPECIAL ON, BUY 3 TIRES AND GET THE 4TH ONE FREE. WHAT A GREAT DEAL. I GOT TIRED OF BUYING OVER PRICED TIRES THAT DIDN'T GET THE MILEAGE THAT THEY SAID I WOULD. THIS WAS A GREAT DEAL AFTER I PRICED DIFFERENT TIRES AND AT DIFFERENT TIRE STORES. I HAVE 500 MILES ON THESE TA'S AND THE RIDE WAS VERY SMOOTH AND THE HANDLING WAS NOTICABLE. I COULDN'T BELIEVE ON HOW QUIET THE TA'S WERE. IT MADE THE RAV RIDE LIKE A NEW CAR. THIS THE FIRST TIME I EVER GOT A DEAL ON NEW TIRES THAT WAS THIS GOOD. I FEEL THAT THIS TIRE IS GOING TO BE EVERYTHING THAT THEY SAID IT WOULD BE. I WILL KEEP YOU GUYS POSTED WHEN I GET SOME MORE MILEAGE ON THESE BABIES. THANKS FOR LISTENING AND HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY MOTORING. ZONK.:) October 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by good value I got these on my mint 94 lincoln mark viii as it calls for a v rated tire. great handling tire all around good in monsoon or in the heat of FL. I work all over FL and GA so I need a dependable tire. It looks great and wear after 3000 miles looks good. September 28, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Value This is my second set of these tires. Great handling and solid tire for the money. September 23, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by So far, so good! Everyday commuter, drive in all kind of conditions. These tires are very quiet, and have very little squeal on turning. Like other reviewers have noticed on grooved pavement the tire try to track oin the groves...this is not a big deal to me. September 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Tires at a good price! I just replaced the BRGoodrich Advantage T/A 215/60R16 that I put on my wifes Diamante over 3 years ago and by far they have stood the test of time! For the price and quality, I couldn't have asked for a better tire. There isn't another company out there that can match what BFGoodrich delivers! July 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent tires for the price Replaced two Goodyear Eagles with these tires and was immediately impressed with the quiet smooth ride. Tread-life expectations are pretty good and the price was very reasonable. Have taken several long highway trips (6-8 hours round trips) since installation and really like these tires. Performed well in some heavy rain too. Ordered online and had them installed at a local Pep Boys. Installation was very fast and very well done! August 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good price, ride, all weather This is the 3rd vechicle putting these tires on all around. They ride well, handle well, and have been overall a great value. Just as good as my michelins have been, just wish they had whitewalls. I've run them up to 30k miles before I sold the vechicle and have been problem free and excellent value. July 11, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Very loud Grips well but they are very noisy. I have to turn up the radio to drown it out. Also the tread wears fairly quick. June 29, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by On 2006 Avalon These tires are almost worn out at 40,000 miles. They have had excellent care with air pressure current and rotated with every 3000 mile dealer oil change. They are also noisey and seem to be worse as they age. The cars handling with these tires is good. I cannot reccomend the tires for an Avalon due to the noise and expected mileage wear. For a 40,000 mile tire they are fine but do not expect to get the 65,000 claimed on the sales brochure. June 24, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not impressed I put these on our 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. They replaced a set of BFGoodrich Traction TA's. I have several vehicles and only put BFGoodrich tires on them. These tires are very loud and the wear dosen't seem to be as good as the Traction TA's they replaced. The ride and handling is ok and the traction is good. Overall I wish BFGoodrich still offered the Traction TA because it was a better tire and I think they missed the mark with The Advantage TA. They are still a decent tire, just not great. June 19, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by REPEAT Buyer Brought my first set of Advantage TA after our OEM tires needed replacing. Got 57 thousand miles out of the first set of TA. We didnt follow the schedule of rotating them so may have gotten more out of them. Like them so much brought our second set. Driving in the rain, no problem. Handling in dry pavement, no problems. We dont get much snow if any, so cant say anything about driving in snow. Road noise was nothing usual. Just made a 800 mile trip with the new tires and my wife made several comments that the ride was smoother and her car drives better, But I guess you get that with any NEW tires. If I could had posted our 57 thousand mile tires to show you the wear, you would see why I brought our second set. Not just for performance cars, but for family sedans too. June 16, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Belt issue I have had the installing place balance and rotate the tires, it was part of the purchase price. The car just does not feel right at speed. Took the vehicle to a big truck tire chain service center for a 3rd party evaluation. They found 2 of the 4 out of round and non-balanceable. Now trying to get some warranty...only 36,000 miles and less than 3 years wear. June 9, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing! These tires are amazing. Got 4 of them. Love them. May 20, 2013
