Load Range

Safety Rating is a combination of two values: Load Index and Speed Rating for P-Metric and Euro Metric tire sizes; and Load Range and Speed Rating in the case of heavy duty LT (light truck) sizes.

Speed Rating is based on the speed that the tire is designed to be driven at for extended periods of time. All tires in the in the U.S. are designed to maintain legal U.S. speed limits. The speed rating of tires must match the maximum driving speed of the vehicle.

Load Index is used on P metric and Euro Metric sized tires and denotes a tire's load-carrying capacity at a specified inflation pressure. The load index is represented by a number, the higher the Load Index Value the greater the load the tire can safely carry. Vehicle manufacturers recommend a maximum load capacity based on a recommended minimum load index.

Tire Class

Tire Class reflects how the tire will be used. There are four major categories: All-Season, Max Performance, Summer-Only and Winter-Use.

All-Season tires are suitable for year-round driving in all weather conditions.

Summer-Only & Max Performance tires are specifically designed for high-performance driving. Tire compound, tread design and speed ratings all combine to hug the road and maintain grip. Summer tires by nature are not ideal for winter driving due to lack of siding to grip winter roads.

Winter-Use tires have tread compounds and patterns that are specially designed for grip on snowy or icy road surfaces. They are not suitable for year-round use. The rubber compound used will wear more quickly on dry, summer roads. It is recommended that winter tires are fitted as a complete set to avoid potential handling issues.

Tread Type

Tread Type is an important consideration when choosing a tire. There are four main types: Passenger, Highway, All-Terrain and Mud-Terrain.

Passenger denotes a tread that is suitable for normal use, a good all-round tread for normal driving.

Highway is a tread type unique to SUV and truck tires. The tread is optimized for normal everyday driving on paved surfaces. These tires can be driven off pavement, but are not ideally suited for off road traction. Highway tread patterns deliver a quiet ride.

For light trucks and specialty vehicles, All-Terrain tread types provide better off-road traction than standard highway truck tires. There more aggressive tread tends to be less quiet on paved roads. All Terrain tires are suitable for everyday use.

Mud-Terrain treads are specifically designed with wider tread blocks and higher void ratios to gain traction in off-road conditions. Mud Terrain tires can generate higher noise levels and tend to carry lower mileage warranties than other tread designs.

UTQG - Uniform Tire Quality Grade

UTQG (Uniform Tire Quality Grade) is made up of three values: treadwear, traction and temperature.

Treadwear is a relative numeric score, based on manufacturer tests, showing how well a tire can be expected to wear compared to other tires. A higher score means a tire could be expected to wear better.

Traction measures the tire's ability to stop a vehicle on wet roads. It doesn't reflect a tire's acceleration, cornering, or hydroplaning performance. Traction grades range from AA (highest) to C (lowest).

Temperature grades the tire's ability to withstand heat build-up, with A being the highest grade and C the lowest.

A - Over 115 mph
B - Between 100 to 115 mph
C - Between 85 to 100 mph
Treadwear: 340
Traction Asphalt - gForce
AA - Above 0.54
A - Above 0.47
B - Above 0.38
C - Less Than 0.38
A - Over 115 mph
B - Between 100 and 115 mph
C - Between 85 and 100 mph

Drive / Ride Performance Characteristics

All tires have the following six performance characteristics, divided into three sets of trade-offs. In most cases, a tire may perform excellently in one characteristic but only standard in the other.
Standard Ride Comfort & Standard Handling
Handling: Get stiff side wall for precise steering and cornering but settle for a firm ride with increased road noise.
Ride Comfort: Enjoy a quiet, smooth ride but lose some cornering ability.
Standard Treadwear & Standard Traction
Traction: Stop faster in wet conditions but expect a shorter tread life.
Treadwear: Get long, uniform wear across your tread pattern but expect less traction in wet conditions.
Standard Low Rolling Resistance & Standard High Speed Performance
High-Speed Performance: Get increased performance at higher speeds but sacrifice some fuel economy.
Low Rolling Resistance: Enjoy improved fuel efficiency but expect less high-speed cornering ability.

BF Goodrich g-Force Sport Comp-2 is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 245/50 bf gforce sport c2 I have about 2,000 miles on these tires for a Camaro z-28 Conv. They at the present time are very quite and have good handling quality's. They seem beter than the Goodyear i had before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior I recently purchased a set of BFGoodrich Comp2's for my Mercedes CLK55 AMG. These tires, in my opinion are perfect for this car, Incredible traction in both wet and dry conditions, superior handling when cornering or abrupt directional changes are necessary. They convey a sense of safety and control which is essential in todays driving enviroment. A great choice for comfort and performance

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Growl After I purchased a new car with RFT's that I didn't like at all I wanted a good summer performance tire. So I purchased a full set of the Comp 2's. The ride was much nicer, softer yet good grip BUT the tire growl is just terrible. So bad that I can hear the tread noise over the radio at speeds. So after having them only for three days I will be exchanging them for a more quiet set of tires. Overall they are good tired from my limited driving on them but their tread growl was more than I could stand. I rated "comfort" as good because they are comfortable tires but not comfortable to my ears.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love these tires! I put the BFGoodrich G-force Sport Comp 2's on my 2010 Camaro SS a year ago. I drive my car around 5-6k miles a year, but I also autocross 1-2 times a month. These tires are out perform the original Pirelli tires by far with much better tread life. I will be getting another set for sure for my everyday driving. I wish they would make Rivals to fit my factory wheel sizes for autocross purposes though...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Excessive road noise I've never owned a BFGoodrich tire until I purchased these. They handle well and are good in wet conditions. My issue with these tires is the excessive road noise. I purchased 4 tires, but only had two installed on the rear, because my front tires ( of a different brand) were still in good shape. As the front tires wore down, I moved the rear BFG tires to the front, and had the other new BFG tires installed on the rear. The road noise after this change was more than I cared for. I know you may be asking, "what kind of wear was on the tires that I moved to the front?" The wear was even on the sides, but showing some signs of over inflation in the center.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super grip Just had a set mounted on my 2012 Boss 302. These things flat out grip. They put the stock Pirellis to shame. My car corners with much more confidence, which is saying a lot. I have to try to get the back end to break loose around a corner with the Comp 2s. There is a bit more road noise, but my car is already loud, so I hardly notice. If I have to trade a slight increase in road noise for this much more traction, I'm all in. Great job BF Goodrich

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best Value to Performance Summer Only "Acquired (4) to replace an all-season Goodyear RSA on an '09 G8 GT RWD. Markedly better cornering on any surface at high speed except gravel or snow of course. The Comp-2 I'm sure is capable on a track but for me superb on dry city streets or ramp cornering, braking. Excels on wet pavement. Comp-2 has a UTQG rating of 340 AA A which is higher than the norm in this class. In independent testing ranked higher than Potenza, Firehawk and Yoko. Keep the Winters for November-April and get these for Summer. I doubt you'll be disappointed."

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Noisy but... Mounted these on 2004 Mustang (Convertible) replacing my winter studded tires. First thing I noticed was major road/tire noise. This car had structs replaced (all four wheels) and an alignment six months ago. So I had an alignment performed. Minor adjustment, they did not find any other issues. Still the noise. Handling is great. I live in the mountains and find them a joy to drive on. Gas mileage off just a bit. I would recommend them with the caveat that the noise may not be acceptable in quiet running cars.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Noise Noise Noise This tire replaced my OEM Goodyear Eagle RS-A's from those to these tires is like night and day in many aspects. Ride: Ford Flex 2010 Limited 255/45R20 Traction(Dry): 10/10 so much so that the steering is somewhat heavier at speeds 65mph it is crisp and precise. It made my car want to go faster. Fuel Efficiency: I noticed a consistent decrease of about -1.5mpg on overall driving. (Could be due to it's willingness to stick to the ground when accelerating) Braking: Another 10/10. I noticed a decrease in distance to my desired distance. Very "on-point". Comfort: 7/10. I now could feel bumps around my street that I could feel before. Not really that desirable. Road Noise: This is why I would NOT purchase these tires, nor recommend these to anyone. Coming from the Goodyear Eagle RS-A's which were very quiet tires, i went to a consistently growling set of tires. So much so that I had to turn my Speed Compensatory Volume on the radio to max and even that is not enough. I can't wait for these to go out so I can replace them with quieter ones.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what I expected I know just about everyone comments about how great or decent these tires are but I just did not have that luck. Maybe its because my car is supercharged and I don't play around and the fact the rears were 285's but the rumble from the tires could never be balanced out and the wear was pretty quick. I would have thought if they wore that quick the ride would be smooth but it wasn't. I found another tire that handles a lot better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for autocross and daily driver I brought these tires to replace the stock tires on my mazdaspeed 3 2008. I use the tires for autocross and daily driving. I can not be more impressed by the handle and preformance of these tires. I first ordered these before they even hit the market at my local dealer. I had to tell them about the tire coming out from you all. and I need a set. They have handle well on the long drive from New York to NC for my move in the marines. I can not say nothing but great things about them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from dry and wet but not snow and ice I did many comparisons with tires other than the factory OEM michelins that had NO MILEAGE WARRANTEE and worn out by 30k miles and over $225 each. So I wasn't replacing my tires with those. I found the G-Force Sports (discontinued now) and sport comp 2 (the replacement). the specs for performance matched or exceeded the michelins for much less cost. I bought a set in october and they performed great on dry and wet pavement, i was very impressed. Yesterday I had the last two michelins replaced with the sport comp 2 and expected really great performance in the snow and on ice. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. These tire perform worse than the worn out michelins on snow and ice. Traction on ice ZERO! I am looking for replacement options for brand new tires. DO NOT BUY THESE TO USE AS ALL SEASON REPLACEMENTS IF YOU LIVE IN AN AREA WITH SNOW AND ICE. These perform great for dry and wet pavement ONLY.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from g-Force Sport COMP-2 I run Comp 2s on the front of my Camaro and really like them. I drive my car very hard and these tires handle everything I throw at them. I will definitely be using these tires again and just wish they had larger sizes. I run the Comp 2 in 275-40-17 on the front but have to run the 295-35-18 KDW on the rear since there currently aren't Comp 2s in that size. Hopefully when my KDW wears out there will be more sizes available in the Comp 2, other than that I love this tire.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Stuff This is BFG's second run with this tire, and it's a homerun. I daily drive the car, with plenty of spirited driving, and even some mild drifting. I drive in the rain to and from work, and no tire I've ever used works harder. They grab on and do not let go! The new silica-infused tread compound really does something for the longevity. I'm not easy on my tires and these have lasted, even being as sticky as they are. I can recommend these tires both as a driver and a tire-installer

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More Sizes needed Great tread design aggressive looks !! Much better dry traction to handle the Horsepower (440HP) However really sucks that I will have to swap brands soon as BF Goodrich does not make tire in the sizes I need 245/45/20 and 295/35/20 , To bad because I really like the Comp2

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3rd set of g-Force Sports I use these on my 2011 WRX daily driver. (very) spirited driving, occasional autocross. I like the value and the performance (dry and especially wet). I don't like having to get them popped of their wheels and switched left to right once or twice in their life span. Others might not like the ride. It is a bit more jarring than the OE tire, but I don't care. I am on my third set of g-Force sports, second car to have them. 2005 WRX and now 2011 WRX. I initially chose this tire for the value. Pretty low price and great reviews elsewhere. I have stuck with this tire for it's performance yes, but mostly the value. OE on a WRX is Bridgestone Potenza RE series. These BFG's are much cheaper, much better performing. I love the wet traction especially. I find these tires virtually unflappable in wet conditions. Craziness would ensue well beyond the speeds I'm willing to drive in bad conditions, and that is pretty fast, definitely extra-legal. I live in FL where it rains every day for 6 months. Wet performance is important to me. Cornering is also great. I find the sidewall inserts very effective. At my first autocross with these tires, I figured out I don't have to worry too much about the relationship between tire pressure and sidewall rollover. The chalk-on-the-sidewall test showed me that just about the perfect amount of sidewall rollover will happen pretty independently of tire pressure. This is a good characteristic for a tire, but makes it hard to tune the cornering balance of my otherwise stock car. But, there is more grip! Higher cornering loads anyway! The wear seems to be very consistent. I have seen other tires start wearing strangely on my vehicles in the past. Once a tire starts a weird wear pattern it is hard to correct. Not too much of a concern with these. I just rotate them every 5k or so, and have them switched from right to left once or twice in their life span (they have to be removed from the wheels to do that). The value is what keeps bringing me back. This tire is twice as good as a more expensive tire to me. They cost half as much as some with similar performance. So I can fit two sets in the same time for the same money!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from not a bad tire This is a very good dry road tire, holds it's own in the corners. It seems to do ok on wet roads, but I have not had to test it yet. The only thing I really dislike is the noise, when I bought them I was told that they were quite. They are not. High speed they are ok. But driving around town they are loud. Other than the noise they are great tires.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome set of paws... My 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 is primarily a "daily driver", with occasional trips to to the drag strip or cruising to the mountains and running the "twisties". I plan on trying some autocross soon. I am very impressed with these tires. Wet performance is almost "sticky" with very good recovery from a "slide out" in a wet corner with great braking grip. The seemingly excellent dry grip shows well in the turns and when braking. In turns, you can feel the stiffer sidewall working, as it seems to keep the car and tire centered on the road so the "uniquely functional" tread pattern can do it's job, and I have a 4200 lb car. Although I have not had them long enough for wear results (<5,000 miles), it seems to be very good so far. I figure that any tire that has such good grip performance must sacrifice surface material......time will tell.....but this is a small sacrifice for such an awesome set of paws. nn

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome tire Have them on my 2000 Miata LS and am very happy with them. Quiet and lots of grip in the dry and the wet. Could not be happier . I just hope thay last I have put on 750 miles since installation. The compound is state of the art and the car just stick like glue now I had to re adjust my suspension as the added grip was overwhelming. I would buy them again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stickiest of the competetive group. Amazing grip even during the break in period. Have been using the tires for a couple of weeks now and am routinely able to take severe corners at double or more than the suggested speeds. It rained three days last week... or did it? The tires paid it no mind. I have yet to get even a squeal or slip out of them. The only slip seen is the smile breaking out on my face in a cloverleaf! On a more aesthetic note, the tread pattern looks particularly aggressive, symmetrical, and displaying a lot of contact area. Excellent balance of sticky compounding too. The best product in the competitive line, and the best value as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from G-Force Sport Comp 2's ROCK! I replaced my Nankang NS-II's on my daily driver SAAB 9-3 Turbo with the new Sport Comp 2's 225/40/18 and wow what a difference! The ride is smoother, much quieter, and the improved handling/cornering is noticeable immediately! It really feels like a different car. Awesome product!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from g-Force COMP-2's= WIN! Ive had these tires for 2weeks now and love them. I replaced michelin supersports with these tires and am very happy with the switch. I run through about 4 sets of tires a year. I drive up US129 once a week. The COMP-2's hold about 10mph more in some of the turns. I would go as far as saying these are the best Bang for the buck! I will be buying these again!
