Solved part 1 of 2 part overheating problem; bad fan clutch was easily replaced without removing fan shroud using wedged serpentine belt. Part 2 was thermostat.

This clutch never disengages. Sounds like a jet engine under the hood. Have to turn up the radio to not hear it.

I installed this item on my F150 immediately my F150 starts sounding like the garbage truck. Most sellers list this item as a direct replacement. But this item is intended for 350 Models, Lariat 1999-2003 7.3L and (XL)1999-2003 7.3L.
Do not buy this item for any F150 or F250. Physically it does fit, but technically is the wrong part.

Not compatible with Mitsubishi montero 2006 3.8. I had to return it. Maybe not pep boy's fault. By the way employees give the impression they hate working there...

In Arizona I want the fan engaged more than less at slow speed/idle. This is a good clutch that keeps the fan engaged pretty much in any speed below 30mph, unless I've been driving (moving) for about 10 minutes, then it stays disengaged even at slower speeds.
