Rated 5 out of 5 by j1j1 Shocks fit great
I recently purchased Monroe shocks for my Dodge truck. The price was right.
Pep Boys was having a great online sale with availability at the store. I ordered them on Saturday night and first thing Sunday morning my local Pep Boys called to tell me my parts were available.

Replaced all four shocks with the monroes, the front shocks seem fine no issues with them. However, the rear shocks are just as noisy and rough as the old shocks I removed from my 2001 Jeep. I would not recommend these shocks for any type of 4 wheel drive vehicle

Did front on 98 expedition. Noticeable difference! Can't wait to do the rear now. Would be nice of came with a new lower nut and bolt but not a huge deal

Put these on the rear of my 2002 VW GTI that still had stock shocks. What a difference they make. Piece of advice, replace the top shock mount (the rubber within it wears).

Rated 4 out of 5 by BigDan Great shock at a great price!
I ordered a set of these shocks to replace the old
ones on the back of my truck. They work great, and do a fine job of supporting a good size load, They are just the basic OEM replacement type, so I can't expect miracles...but they are a good choice for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Beetleguy Perfect fit, good quality
I had a rear bump/thud noise on my 2001 VW Beetle GLS and decided to replace the rear shocks. They fit perfectly, easy to install. Made in Mexico, look well made good quality replacement shocks. They are less expensive than the dealer's. Do the job well and buy the mounts too. They do not come with dust covers and bumpers. So far the ride is smooth. Great shocks! I purchased online and got 20 percent discount.

Rated 1 out of 5 by pepsquat111 monroe plus shocks for nissan d21 2wd truck
my truck uses 4 shocks, no struts. i replaced all four old shocks which had 80k+ miles on them with the monroe plus shocks, about $22 each, and the improvement was maybe 2-3% better. these are garbage, perhaps the costlier ones are okay but i would hesitate to buy monroe again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Marcin Great product for the money
I have had these on my vehicles before and they do last a long time. These are for those who want their vehicle to ride like new again. I would say they are meant more for comfort than handling but do not make handling worse than OEM just ride better than OEM. To get that new car feeling again these are what you need. The price compared to other models simply can't be beat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Meatman These new air shocks provide a smooth , stable drive.
My truck had 220,000 miles. The tire wear on the rear tires was "choppy" as the tires were bouncing up and down and streering was negatively effected.
After adding the four new shockjs and an alignment its smooth driving and I feel safe. Thankks New Castle Pep Boys another great job.
PS the store coupons and rewards membership can $ave you money !

I'm very disappointed with this purchase. Though the front struts from Monroe at their entry level price point were of decent quality, these are not up to OEM spec. The first ones I installed were defective, making horrible groaning, clicking, and squeaking sounds. They also did not appear to function at all as dampeners - the back end of our Toyota Sienna bounced around as if there were no shock absorbers at all, with these installed initially.
Unfortunately, we installed the the day before a long road trip and did not have time to replace them before the trip. So we were subjected to the noises and lack of control for the entirety of a 1000 mile excursion.
Upon returning home, I immediately removed them and took them back to Pep Boys, where there was some confusion about how to go about replacing them. Though they were obviously defective (the mechanical noises they were making could be heard easily, just working them by hand), I was first told that I'd have to pay an additional fee to get them swapped out with shocks of the same part number.
Fortunately, this was due to a salesperson who just didn't understand how to do a warranty exchange, and the manager straightened it all out quickly. I received new shocks, confirmed they were in good order, and easily installed them.
Still - even now with properly functioning, non-defective shocks absorbers on the car, they don't seem like they have aggressive enough dampening for a heavy car like a minivan.
If I were to do it over again, I'd choose heavy duty shock absorbers like KYB GR2's or Bilstien HDs. I might be tempted to go with a higher level of Monroe shocks, but for the price they start at, it's probably a better bargain to go with a name brand renowned for longevity. Monroe recommends replacing shocks at 25,000 miles in some of its own literature, which leads me to question their commitment to longevity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HotnVegas when the ride gets rough get some shocks!
Monroe makes good shocks..good oem replacements.
driving older cars you might not notice the bumps with all the other squeaks but take a peek and see if your shocks are leaking fluid or if the car dives when you stop...you may need some... pepboys has been running alot of %'s off take them when you can. got 2 for my pick-up about $21 each (own install) sadly some cars require spring compressors so keep that in mind for some diy's hope this helps :^)

Rated 4 out of 5 by ShorewoodTOM exact fit, all parts present, ride acceptable
Installation went as anticipated. I was slightly disappointed with the small improvement in the ride - perhaps I expected too much from new shocks and no brand / model would have met my expectations.
