Rated 4 out of 5 by 1Steve great way to add some cargo space
I shopped extensively for a "hard shell" cargo carrier before selecting this one. I chose this one specifically based on price. Pep Boys had a great sale on it and I had it delivered same day to my local store for under $95. Couldn't beat it. Especially being that most containers of this size retail at twice that price easy.
The product: The container itself is quite large and can fit a bunch of stuff. It does come with basic straps to secure it to the roof rack. A U-bolt mounting kit can be purchased separately; but I didn't find that necessary.
The plastic that the container is made out of is a little flimsy/ flexible. I had expected it, at least the base part, to be a little more rigid... and for that reason alone I decided on the 4 star rating vs 5. It really is a 5 star product for the price I paid.
The assembly, yes there is some assembly required, was pretty straight forward. Though to fit and tighten the base to the lid you may need an extra set of hands.
it comes with 2 key locks that add some piece of mind int keeping contents secure. But be careful when loading. The flexibility of the open lid, coupled with the locations on the spring loaded arms, can cause the spring arm on one side to close unexpectedly. It happened to me once and the hasp for the lock scratched my arm as it was inside the carrier when the lid came down.
Overall it's a nice carrier at this price point... and if you can get it on sale that's all the better.
And of course PepBoys service was A+

Rated 1 out of 5 by shuac hard to work with
very thin construction makes it hard to put together and really flops around when trying to load it. if you leave it open too long it just bends and warps and falls to the side closed especially if it is hot outside. it is roomy and looks good on my Jeep Patriot but otherwise I should have got a refund and spent the money on a better one

Works well for the price. I actually got it on sale at 30% off so I was pleased. I paid extra for the U bolts because of secure mount. However, I found that because it opens from the side reaching the U bolts on the hinge side was very difficult without a ladder. It comes with strap mounts of its own - just FYI. I did not know that at the time of purchase. I still prefer the U bolt mounting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by subie Great value compared to other carriers.
The carrier requires assembly to attach the hinges, locks, mounting brackets, and latches. It takes about an hour. It first appears to be flimsy since the plastic shells making up the carrier lid and base are thin unreinforced plastic. However, once assembled and mounted, the stiffness appears to be adequate to hold a moderate load. It is very light and easy to mount. I just completed a 600 mile trip on an interstate and the carrier worked just fine at speeds up to 80 mph. I experienced some light rain and the carrier did not appear to leak. The tie down straps are long and only a small portion was used. In order stop the tails from flapping I wound them around the roof top rail and them tapped them down.

Fix great on my 2014 Buick Encore and drove over 1600 miles in Texas where the speed limit is 80 and I drove 80. Had no problems at all. Holds a lot of stuff; amazing. Had two large luggage in it, wooden 3ft plant stand, large picture, and a large mirror and other stuff. It holds a lot!

Have not installed it yet. Will be going on vacation in a few months and then I'll know how well I like it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JJTTERIO The roof top carrier is of good design and construction.
Assembling was easy and document provided is very good.
The only snag encontoured was that the screws kit for putting it together was missing.
I contacted the distribution centre and a replacement kit was shipped and the right parts were rereceived.

If you want a viable alternative to the big name cargo pods that cost three to four times as much this is a workable choice. I would have liked the shell to be made of slightly thicker material because it was very floppy while handling during assembly. I would also have used more fasteners at attachment points. That being said it held together on the 1,000 mile trip to Florida. I do not know if it was necessary but I chose to tape the leading edge of the pod seam to minimize the possibility of 70 mph wind distorting the lid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BigFamily So far so good
Bought for a road trip to Florida in the minivan. 7 passengers, so definitely needed something to store some of our belongings. Definitely need two people to assemble the top and bottom together. After that, can be a one man job. Was light enough to lift onto top of the vehicle by myself.
Key notes: doesn't come with the hooks to secure to vehicle. That will be a separate purchase. They have a U-bolt kit that you can purchase to secure to roof rack cross rails. Make sure your rails can be adjusted to fit the grooves that are on the cargo box. I have a Town and Country and I have cross rails, but they can only be moved to three different locations. The spacing for the grooves are about 22 inches apart, so if you can get your cross rails at that distance apart, then you are golden. If not (like in my situation...they could only be spaced 15 inches or 27 inches apart!!), you will have to determine where to drill new holes in the bottom of the cargo box for the U-bolts to attach. Bought on sale at a very good price! Not sure about storage just yet as I haven't taken the trip!
