Product had a poor design and did not work in my application, which is a normal application.
The plastic stop, which is supposed to be pressed against receptacle lid, was not sufficient for me to make the gas flow. The part is too feebly made and does not extend enough to be able to make the gas flow reliably.

This is the 4th gas can I've bought over the past 7 years: first one was plastic and leaked every time, so bought an Eagle metal can (but wasn't able to remove plastic pour funnel to re-fill), then found the last metal can in metro Denver with metal screw-on caps on clearance--it worked well until the caps somehow either rusted or otherwise welded themselves on and I couldn't get them open. This new Scepter can did leak at first, UNTIL I found the following link: http://www.scepterconsumer.com/safety_compliance/safe_use/ in the reply to an earlier review. I went to that tutorial and realized what I was doing wrong--a picture IS worth a thousand words. I recommend that that tutorial link be part of the label's instructions that's on the gas can. As another reviewer mentioned, it would be better with a 2nd handle near the bottom--would help to keep can steady while pouring gasoline into tank, etc.

I AM SO TIRED OF THESE STUPID CAPS THAT YOU HAVE TO DO TEN THINGS TO GET TO OPEN. NO CHILDREN ARE USING THESE GAS CANS SO WHY? I WANT THE OLD GAS CANS. JUST SCREW ON THE TOP SPOUT AND POUR.

I purchased this item because an older model spout has begun to leak during use. I am pleased with the spout construction.
