Rated 3 out of 5 by Verified Reviewer Worked well for about two weeks, then back to the CEL
I purchased this product because my CEL was on with the code P0420. I used this product and reset the CEL, and it remained off for about two weeks and then it returned. So it did not perform as advertised, although it did seem to clean out the combustion system and my vehicle peformed better after use. Just didn't fix the catalytic converter issue.

Not sure what caused my Cat/O2 sensor to go into alarm, might have been bad fuel, or the week long sub zero temps. But its been 3 weeks and the check engine light hasn't come back on. I put in the tank with a few gallons of gas, reset the light and it hasn't come back.

Purchased this product, thinking that it might save my money to replacing the catalytic converter in my
Toyota Sienna 2000, but probably my decision was not correct, as it did not work. Now I have to change the catalytic converter very soon.

My son's 159,000 mile 2004 BMW X3 2.5 was throwing the dreaded "catalyst efficiency below threshold" code so I decided to give Cataclean a try. I followed the directions except that I drove it 20 miles(rather than the recommended 10 to 15) prior to refueling. 500 miles later it has not thrown the catalyst efficiency code again.

This product seem to work>I used on the Mustang 3.9 V6 2004 I noticed no more condensation in tail pipe and different less offensive odor or exhaust smell. If it helps to clean the CAT because the cost can run into thousnads to chang out the CT System. Used on mustang first and then and on 2003 ford 5.4 SUV last week. Waiting until I need to fill tank up before I make any comments

Followed manufacturer directions and check engine light and cat code are clear. Would recommend highly. Beats expensive and usually not required cat replacement.

For two years, my check engine light has been coming on intermittently, consistently for the last year or so. Car was throwing P0420. On a recommendation from the inspection station after my car failed, I sought Cataclean out from my parts store. I wasn't ready to spend $1500 on a new catalytic converter and $25 was worth the risk.
The car is a 2004 Honda Civic, well known for having a pretty sensitive set of sensors and some risk that replacement converters don't necessarily work every time. 102,000 miles just didn't seem like a long enough life for the converter in a car that could potentially get 300,000 miles in its lifetime. The P0420 at it's worst occurring as a pending code within a few miles of being reset, typically just after the EGR test had passed. Within a few more miles, the P0420 would occur again with the catalytic converter test causing the check engine light to stay on. With a scanner, I could see that the engine was throwing it at about 1700RPM, where a year ago, I could keep the light off if I kept the car below 3000RPM while it ran through all of its emissions tests after a code reset.
The first time, I followed the instructions and saw a small improvement, but not much. The light started coming on at about 2100 RPM this time, so it was moving the right direction, just not far enough. I did purchase a second bottle and went well beyond the instructions, running it in my tank for about 100 miles before filling my tank up, mixture of highway and city driving over a few days. Then I cleared my computer codes. Shazaam! The light is off and the computer is ready for a passed inspection. Total cost of repair: $52. A much better investment in my mind. It just took a little patience and trust that it could work!
My advice to any user of this product is if you're going to use it and the converter is looking bad enough to replace, run it way beyond the instructed mileage because there is clearly some work to be done. Let it do the work. If you have access to a good code reader, it'll help you see the improvement.

I know better than to get mixed up with some chem tools. Don't get me wrong. I'm sure this has some engine matienence value. But really.

Bought Mr. Gasket Cataclean Engine and Catalytic Converter Treatment 16 OZ. I followed directions on the bottle and it worked just as advertized. My 2001 Astro van runs and idles great. I will use this treatment in as preventive maintenance in the future.I bought this at PEP BOYS. Paid for it online and my wife picked it up the next day since I worked all day.
