I feel the oil is doing a good job. The car is at 96,000 miles and still running good. I change it every 3,000 miles.

I'm a Castrol man. Recently I started using their synthetic motor oil, but the old styles weights don't seem to be available for the synths. I drive old beaters, so oil leaks are a common problem. I used to buy 10W 40 but a thicker/heavier lubricant lasted longer. I recently put a rebuilt motor into my ride, so I used 10W30 synthetic, mainly because that was all that was on the shelf. I discovered that I still have oil disappearing , and I'm wondering if it is worthwhile to spend the extra bucks on the synthetic oil, since it's going to dribble out. I bought the regular Castrol as emergency insurance. If I had any brains, I'd buy no-name oil since it's going to leak out anyway, but I'm comfortable with this brand.
