I bought my first Battery Manager about a year ago for my '02 TT, which sits in the garage 95% of the time and munches on its battery. After eating three batteries in about as many years, I sprung for the Manager. The first one did not work well at all--the readouts didn't make sense and it wouldn't keep the battery charged up. Griot's replaced that unit with no hassles and the new one is great. It will charge a nearly dead battery (no experience with a dead battery with it) and it's entertaining to watch the LED readouts blink as it goes through its paces. It also works great if I go away and turn off power to the garage--it comes right back to its settings when I restore the power. Very happy with the product and Griot's customer service.

I bought two of these chargers a month or so ago to keep the batteries in old cars I don't drive frequently ready to turn. None of the sluggish turnover you can get from batteries sitting on their own. The instructions aren't the most clear, but the use is pretty straightforward.

Rated 5 out of 5 by James03 Product sells itself
I purchased this for my cobra which I drive 4 times a week and the battery kept repeatedly dying between drives when it sat. Purchased the tender, read the directions and worked as expected. Didn't think I'd be excited to watch a battery charge but yeah. This is my 5th purchase from griots and like everything it works as expected. I got in the habit of spending a few bucks more for a product that works Vs a product that's cheaper and doesn't. Simply said, I buy from griots because it's peace of mind!!!! It works and I know it will work.

Rated 2 out of 5 by 100Daily "Manager" only manages 4 amps, not powerful enough
I own this battery "manager", and I also own the actual Griots battery "charger". The "charger" does everything the "manager" does and then some. This "manager" only manages to put out 4 amps and CANNOT charge a dead battery. It can only "top off" an already healthy battery. Plus even if it could, at 4 amps it would take days to charge. My unit was not even able to take a half full battery and fully charge it, but it does supposedly support this. It does work well at keeping an already full battery, full. But here is my point... The much nicer full 20 amp charger ALSO does battery maintenance. It ALSO can maintain a battery over the winter, do charge cycles, etc. It can do everything the maintainer can do, but it can also FULLY CHARGE a weak to dead battery. I had a dead battery at the airport last month. I got a jump start and got home, but my alternator only charged the battery about 40%. The battery manager switched on for a second, then said CHARGED (even though it wasn't). I was getting slow starts in the cold. I bought the actual battery charger and it was just much much better. Plus the "charger" has a cool LCD readout. And again, you can just leave it hooked up and it will maintain your battery indefinitely. Spend the extra money and get the more powerful unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by car guy 2 Battery Manager V
I received the Battery Manager V quickly. It was very easy to use. I store my car for several months and had to disconnect the battery cable to prevent the battery from draining. When reconnected the car usually does start right away. Since hooking up the battery manager, I could heard the difference in how quickly the car starts. It works great and maintenance free.

I received my Battery Manager V two weeks ago and put it to use immediately on an 8 year old new (never charged) OEM Motorcraft battery for my '03 T-Bird. The OEM battery has an eye to indicate low (red/orange) or fully charged (green). I had a slow charger on it for several days and could never get a green indication. I put the Batt Mgr V to use right away on this battery and in two days it was GREEN and fully charged! I feel with regular monitoring this battery will have many years of life in the T-Bird!
