While a bit more than just a bare strut it is worth the extra money. I replaced both rear struts on my 96 Maxima in less than 2 hours by myself. I have no complaints and the ride quality is the best I've had in years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JoeChicago Exactly what I needed
After pricing out struts and strut mounts, it was only a bit more for these complete assemblies. That makes it an easy remove and reinstall without having to compress springs. An added bonus is now having new springs as well.

2003 Pontiac Grand Am, ride height up~ 3/4 inch, 1 had the rubber sleeve cover upside down indicating it was toyed with prior, 1 has an annoying squeak at top of strut and a "joust sleeve" that seems to stick. Very difficult install, additional tools required, had to rent a spring compressor with minimal room to use it. Very displeased. I also would have gone for the upgrade strut -not available.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BobP Great ride but hard to install
These items were a complete assembly which makes them easier and safer to work with than just replacing the struts alone, but the lower spring bracket and isolator are welded to the new strut in a location about 1 inch lower than the factory strut. It still clears the axles and other suspension components, but it makes it necessary to drop the lower control arm out of the vehicle to install the replacements. That is not an easily done thing in someone's driveway. Ride height and quality is good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rocker Good original equipment replacement
I found that these struts restore the ride back to new. These struts operate like the original equipment and are an economical replacement. A few days after installing these, we went on a road trip vacation and I was satisfied with the ride quality even when the Explorer was loaded with 2 of us, 2 dogs and all our luggage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OmakTaxiCab Terrific!
These struts are outstanding, and for the price you cannot beat them, I own a taxi company, so I am always trying to find the best deals on parts! Thank you Pep Boys! Beat out local prices by at least $60. And the free shipping was a deal sealer!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Scotsman everything I needed
I removed the old unit, opened the box, and installed the new one. The hardest part was getting the old bolts out. Much easier and safer than replacing just the strut cartridge itself.
