Cabin Air Filter

Cabin Air Filter

Cabin air filters are much like the AC or furnace filter in your home. Air that is blown inside your vehicle passes through the cabin air filter to be purified and cleansed, making it healthier for you and your passengers. Cabin air filters are designed to protect drivers and passengers from pollen, smoke, smog, mildew, dander, fungus, mold spores, dust and other pollutants and contaminants. Regular replacement helps keep the air in your cabin safe for you and your passengers.

What is a cabin air filter and how does it work

What is it?

  • Most cabin air filters are made of filter media and formed in the shape of a panel. They have pleats or are molded into waves that are designed to capture particles in the air.

How Does it Work?

  • The cabin air filter is positioned at the top of your vehicle’s air intake ducting.
  • As your vehicle draws air into the cabin area, the cabin filter captures harmful contaminants in the filter’s media.
  • Most cabin air filters are located in or around the glove box area. Some are located under the hood of the vehicle.

How is it Made?

  • Most cabin air filters are produced with non-woven media folded into pleats.
  • Some cabin air filters are pressed or molded shapes with non-woven media.

Why Does it Fail?

  • Severe duty driving.
  • Heavy pollen.
  • Lack of annual replacement.

What are the Symptoms of Failure?

  • Musty smell.
  • Windows fog.
  • Poor air flow through cabin vents.

What are the Implications of Failure?

  • Clogged cabin failure can interfere with AC/Head performance.
  • Damage circulating fans by preventing flow of air.
  • Poor window fog clearing due to poor air flow.

How Difficult is the Install?

Difficulty Rating:

  • Installation difficulty varies by vehicle
