Derived from the French word, meaning “Chivalrous”, the Galant was manufactured by Mitsubishi from 1969 to 2012. Original production of the compact sedan began in Japan, however, as it evolved into a mid-size car and introduced to the North American market, Mitsubishi began in Normal, Illinois. After six generations of change, the Galant found its niche when Mitsubishi released the seventh generation in 1992 at the Tokyo Motor Show. This would be the base for the model until its discontinuation in 2012.
Coming in a wide variety of trims, powertrains, and body styles: 4 door sedan or 5 door hatchbacks, and from 1.8L to 3.8L V6 or the highly-coveted VR-4 model powered by twin turbos, the Galant serves as both a reliable daily driver to a sought after sports car for motorsports enthusiasts.
There are striking similarities between the eighth-generation Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 and the highly-sought after, flagship vehicle Lancer from Mitsubishi. Despite its discontinuation in 2012, the Galant can still be found on the roadways of America, and running strong thanks to proper maintenance and the right tires. Pep Boys stocks a variety of the best Mitsubishi Galant tires to keep your vehicle running strong for years to come.
