| Step 1: Check Your Tire Pressure Properly inflated tires can improve gas mileage up to 3 percent, saving up to 11 cents per gallon or up to 3mpg by checking the air pressure in your vehicle’s tires before driving. | Step 2: Change Your Oil Improve your vehicle’s gas mileage by 1 to 2 percent and extend the life of your engine by using the manufacturer's recommended grade of motor oil. Also, look for motor oil that says "Energy Conserving" on the API performance symbol to be sure it contains friction-reducing additives. |
Step 3: Clean Your Fuel System Today’s fuel injected cars perform better and use less gas when they’re free of the dirt and particles that can accumulate over time. Pep Boys recommends having your vehicle’s fuel injectors and fuel and induction system cleaned and the injector throttle body serviced every year to maintain peak performance and maximize gas mileage. |
