PHILADELPHIA - June 7, 2007
The Pep Boys - Manny, Moe & Jack (NYSE: "PBY"), the nation's leading automotive aftermarket retail and service chain, announced today that it will be the primary sponsor on Sterling Marlin's No. 14 Chevrolet at the upcoming Pocono 500 race at Pocono Speedway in Long Pond, PA.
Pep Boys, an 86-year-old Philadelphia institution with 593 stores and more than 6,000 service bays in 36 states and Puerto Rico, will have its colors showcased on Marlin's Chevrolet at this weekend's NASCAR event, to be held on Sunday, June 10 at 12:30 p.m.
"Pep Boys and its 19,000 retail, service, distribution center and support associates are pleased to partner with Ginn Racing and a champion driver like Sterling Marlin," said Pep Boys President and CEO Jeff Rachor. "We're thrilled to be a part of the NASCAR experience and look forward to cheering Sterling on during his upcoming race."
Pep Boys recently sponsored Marlin at the May 19 All-Star Cup and May 27 at the Coca Cola 600.
At last week's Nextel Cup race at Dover International Speedway, Marlin ran in the top 20 for the majority of the 400-mile event and finished 16th.
"Consistency is a step in the right direction," said Marlin. "I expect our Pep Boys Chevy to be quick off the truck. I have a feeling that things will work out for us differently this time around at Pocono."
